The HLA The HLA or Human Liberation Army was founded in the latter half of 2381 by Lord Bobby Rumsfeld who believed that the inclusion of aliens into the Federation has made it week. Sometime in the latter half of 2382 the HLA recruited Alex McKenzie (Lt Coronel) in retaliation to peace talks with the Than whom he saw destroy an independent colony several years ago.

The group originally operated as a pressure group whose main crimes consisted of graffiti and harassment. By the end of 2382 they had escalated to attacks on non-human citizens Up until 238301.01 when a team lead my Alex McKenzie (Lt Coronel) bombed the Than peace talks. On stardate 238306.25 McKenzie and a team of mercenaries hijacked the USS Achilles (Iliad class) and after successfully escaping returned to earth with the intention of releasing a biological weapon on earth on stardate 238407.30 where the Ithaca neutralized the Achilles and McKenzie and the rest of the crew were arrested. Alex McKenzie confessed to everything during interrogation and gave information that lead to the arrest of many of the other kea members of the HLA including Lord Rumsfeld who was shot and killed resisting arrest by Federation security forces on stardate 238410.15. Alex McKenzie committed suicide in his cell on stardate 238408.28

Starfleet Marine Corps The marine corps while having remained in active service since the conception of the federation, back when they were known as MACOs, rely came into their own during the Dominion War when ground combat became more prevalent. This caused the ranks of the marines to swell.
After the war ended it was decided to keep up the resource funding to the marines. By 2379 the idea of having a contingent of marines stationed permanently on a ship was quite common, due to conflicts within the chain of command it was decided that the XO of a contingent stationed permanently on a ship would not hold a rank higher than Major, thus allowing both the Captain and the First Officer to outrank the Marine XO should the neet to pull rank arise.

Atlantians

The Atlantian home world is located within the phenomenon known as the ‘Grate Barrier’ on a system just outside the galactic core. As a race they evolved into a sentient species 7bya (billion years ago) by 6bya they had developed space travel and started expanding outward into the galaxy at large. By this point they had developed highly advanced technology and a quantum based method of galactic travel. By 5.5bya they had concord several nearby inhabited systems and subjugated the native species. Realizing they had reached the pinnacle of natural evolution the Atlantians began genetically manipulating themselves for further improvement, to this end by 4bya they had manipulated themselves to the point where they could no longer naturally reproduce so they began setting up factories on their colony worlds to create new individuals. Realizing their practically identical genetic code maid them weak as a species they began harvesting the slave races for genetic material and base proteins needed for the cloning system. By 3.8bya they had established colonies on many of the worlds on the outer galactic fringe which were at that point uninhabited by intelligent life, which they seeded with species derived from their own genetic material for the next 2 billion years they set up a complex network of systems to control and harvest from the outer worlds, known as the Farm-Worlds. They never allowed any of the species to develop to a technological level where they would be able to achieve space travel and become a threat.

pproximately 1 million years BP (BC earth years) a Coalition of races attack the Atlantian home world, which was a Dyson Sphere constructed around the Binary suns of their home system. After nearly a year of conflict they managed to set up a subspace stockade around the Atlantians home system which stopped them from being able to leave. However during the last years of this war the Atlantians built a network of devices, know as Time-Gates, throughout the galaxy that would sit inert and un-noticed for millions of years until the activation was signal was sent at which point they would open up a time portal connecting to the gateways constructed in the Atlantis system. This activation signal was launched (via subspace instead of quantum-space) from a navigation station on stardate 238103.29, due to the (relatively speaking) slow speed of subspace communications. The gates would activate one at a time with the closest first and the others as the signal reached them, the first gate opened in the Sigma system on stardate 238212.29, and the second opened in the Danube system on stardate 238404.01.

They are physically tall (between 6 and 7 feet tall), with long thin limbs and triple jointed arms. They have elongated heads with bulbous jet black eyes (similar to the ‘greys’ in human mythology). They have six fingers on each hand with two opposable digits. The six fingered hand lead to them developing a base 12 mathematical system.
